Step 1: Start with a blank label

Everything starts from an empty label on the right template.

Under the Home tab, click START FRESH, then open TEMPLATE BUILDER and choose the 2.25x4 thermal starter template.

Check Draw borders next to GENERATE PDF. The label redraws with its edges outlined.

Draw borders is the fastest way to see what you are doing. It outlines the label edge, the printable area inside the padding, and every element you add. We leave it on for the whole build and turn it off at the end.

The template controls the physical medium: a 2.25 by 4 inch label, one per page, with 1/16 inch of padding. On a thermal printer the page and the label are the same rectangle.
